Resthaven was established over 85 years ago. Since, they have been providing ongoing support to the elderly residents of metropolitan Adelaide as well as regional South Australia.
Their high quality aged care services include residential villages along with community centres and services to provide our loved ones with the livelihood and standard of living that they deserve.
Being a non-for-profit community organisation, making sustainable and financially responsible decisions is key to their brand. This particular premises, Resthaven Aberfoyle Park, felt they had an obligation to extend this value of sustainability through to their facilities, and with the realisation of the amount of roof space they had available and the energy savings the could obtain from installing solar, they decided it was time to begin their solar journey.
A 100kW solar system consisting of 259 Sunpower Performance panels was installed, in order to offset their increasing power bills and allow them to become increasingly self-sufficient of their power.
The energy output of this 100kW solar system is 132,931 kWh per year. The greenhouse gas emissions avoided by the production of this amount of solar energy is equal to 82,417 kg of CO2 per year.
NRG Solar installed this solar system at Resthaven Aberfoyle Park in April 2018. In April 2022, it will have been installed for 4 years. The system will have avoided 330,000 kg of Co2 from being produced from fossil fuels. This is equivalent to planting 5,457 trees.
This is a fantastic outcome for Resthaven Aberfoyle Park, as well as its residents and also the environment, and their goal of sustainability has absolutely been achieved in this scenario.
"From the acceptance of NRG tender to the panels and inverters being installed was less than 8 weeks. NRG Solar co-ordinated with onsite supervisors in order to effectively manage the other trades thus ensuring the installation process was smooth and indecent free."
